Everything we do and the way we do it is based on the following Values and Operating Principles.

Values applies to the our core beliefs, the way we interact with individuals within our direct team (employees) and our broader community (customers, investors, all other stakeholders, society in general). Operating principles applies to how we conduct business, both on a daily basis and with our long-term vision in mind.

Both have intersections, but they are not the same.

Our core Values

  1. We trust in the people: Everyone working on a task is given full ownership. We expect the best possible contribution from every role. Of course, we will supply the required tools and assist wherever required. This builds on our believe that the strongest personal development happens outside of the comfort zone.
  2. We are numbers driven: Everything we do shall be measured and we drive the business based on this. We believe that every change, even a subjective one, will be reflected in the business KPIs.
  3. We foster the most successful team culture: Building on what researchers found, the most successful teams work together under conditions of psychological safety, dependability, structure and clarity, transparency, meaning and impact (https://rework.withgoogle.com/print/guides/5721312655835136/). It is the job of everyone on our to ensure that these conditions are given. And finally: We want to ensure that we are a fun place to work!
  4. We believe in continuous improvement, coaching and learning: We will structure all processes in a way that enables continues improvement. With the mindset of always going one step further, we can try new means to succeed in all activities. But this does not stop on a personal level: For all employees to unleash their (potentially hidden) super-skills, we will invest in coaching and create an atmosphere that supports learning. We committed 1% of our funding sum to coaching, mentoring and learning by external experts.
  5. We are entrepreneurs, we act like entrepreneurs: We breathe 80-20, we build and learn (fast!). We build our success on finding creative and innovative solutions. We only hire employees with an entrepreneurial mindset and we are only working with external parties supporting us in an entrepreneurial way.

Our Operating Principles

  1. We are developer first: With everything we do, we will always ask ourselves if that makes the life of the developer and their end-users better. This is the number one principle for us to operate on. → You will be participating in community meetings and hackathons in order to be close to the developers integrating our product.
  2. We always strive for excellence: We believe in the power of amazing solutions. This means the highest standards to us. → One means to do so is integrating individual and team OKRs into our daily-business.
  3. We always assume best intent: Our base assumption is that everyone (colleagues, customers, and everyone else we interact with) does her or his best. We always have a positive an open mindset. → API has multiple meanings in our company, in this case it is “assume positive intent”.
  4. We embrace change: If you want to win a sailing regatta, you have to be flexible on your course and on the trim of the sails that you use. You cannot change the wind or the other external conditions. The same applies just for businesses. Survival of the fittest.
  5. We act fast and change course if required – the agile approach: We believe that speed is key to win a race (or a market). Hence we (in most cases) take 70% as our go point.

As with everything we do, we know we are not perfect yet, but we strive to constantly grow. We are always open for feedback, always eager to improve. We see the above Operating Principles and Values both as evolving and as to be challenged and amended on a regular basis. This will involve all stakeholders: Employees, customers, investors, the broader community and the founding team.
